Can't help falling in love, 2003

Photoshop 7.0

No References.

The idea behind this piece isn't really that deep: It's pretty much a pun, as they quite literally "can't help falling in love" - falling into the heart (love) reflection on the surface of the water (and also falling for each other).

If you would like to see a 'tutorial', or rather a short 'work in progress' sequence of this piece, you can go here.

This piece is actually really big. The last .psd file before flattening and adding the aged photograph look to it is 330MB, and everything is on it's own separate layer - 25 in total. To show you the original size, I thought I'd put up a detail shot from it here. This image is a detail of the woman's face, at 100% size:

The reason the drawing turned out looking rather 'cartoonish', is because I didn't use any references for this; I drew this straight from my mind with no photos to go by.

-Perhaps it was stupid to draw it at such a huge size - the details won't show on screen anyway, except for in detail shots like the one above, but on the other hand it's a good thing if I'm going to print it out sometime.

I hope it won't take a month until next time I have something to put up here - I'll do my best. In the mean time I hope you enjoy this one and the others.
