Rusted Love, 2003

Corel Painter 8, Photoshop 7.0

No References.

This is the first piece I've made with Painter 8 since I bought it not long ago. There are a couple of things I didn't know about the software when I started using it, so next time I'll use more of it's features. It will probably be more like an oil painting.

Anyhow.

In this one I was back with using multiple layers as well, I'll see if maybe I'll try not to use layers at all next time. I'm not sure how long exactly this one took me, 'cause I've been painting on it a little on and off over a course of several months.

Basically I haven't felt like drawing at all this summer. That's why it took so long updating this section. After each finished piece, I usually have a period where I feel that I have no drawing skills, and that "depression" this time was more severe and made it hard to draw anything at all.

That is to say; every time I start a new piece, i get that way, 'cause in the beginning the new piece always looks a bit crappy. Usually when it's finished, I'm happy with the result.

This piece probably speaks for itself; again it's kind of a play on words:

'Love Never Rusts'. In this case their bodies have rusted away, but their love - although long time dead - is still evident.
The two bots have laid like this for centuries probably, until one day they are discovered in a cave by an archeologist.

So it's kind of a romantic, and at the same time sad and yet almost sacred moment right then and there.
