Terminator C.H.I.L.D., 2002

Photoshop 7.0

Photos partially used for reference.

The theme of this piece is easy enough to explain, as it was a direct result of me entering into a contest at conceptart.org. The contest was held by the people behind the Terminator movies and the new website for the (then) upcoming Terminator 3 movie, and I had to stay away from copyrighted material. I have used reference images here, especially of the boys face. If you found the original reference picture, you probably wouldn't recognise it from this drawing though. For the skull part, I used an image of a "grown-up" terminator head (the T-800 series from Terminator 2) and of a human baby skull image as references. The theme in this is something I came up with;

This robot is one in a line of robots that the machines sent back through time to infiltrate human families by replacing the child(ren), and destroying the families from within. The codename is C.H.I.L.D., an abbreviation for "Cyberdyne Human Infiltration and Licvidation Device".

This image is supposed to be a CAT scan made on a futuristic 3D CAT scan machine.

In this piece, I used the Photoshop airbrush for the entire piece, except for the bloodstains. The contest deadline was on the 21st of January 2003. I didn't win the contest, but:

Update: I am happy to say that the people behind the T3 website has contacted me, and would still want to use this piece on their site, in the "Featured artists" section. I will publish the direct URL to it here once everything is set up over there.

Update 2: This piece is now accepted at the official T3 website, and you can see it there (although they have resized it) by going to Terminator 3.com, click ENTER THE SITE, then click COMMUNITY GRID, then FEATURED ARTISTS, then HIGHEST RATED and there you'll find it.

Update 3: It seems the Terminator 3 movie website I linked to above is now gone. And with it - my two seconds of 'fame'. :-)
