I have installed this before about a year ago and it worked perfectly, very good job. But I just now installed Deus Ex IW again and then the texture pack and when I play the game the menu's will have no text. The textures will also not work, all the characters come out grey and all the wall textures will come out the same.
Did I do something wrong like install the game funny, the texture pack funny, or both? Would really like to play the game with the texture pack again.
If anyone can contact me that would be great, my email should be displayed or someone can right back on here.
Thanks

I'm delighted with your textures.
They really brighten up the games, especially Invisible War.
It's always irked me just how bad the texturing looks compared to modern textures.

As for the Thief 3 textures, I love them.
Thanks!

Thanks so much for the texture pack, I really appreciate the work you've put into this. Making the game play as it was meant to be played, not dumbed down for the benefit of a console port. Admittedly, I haven't played the game with it yet but just from the screenies I can see I'm in for a treat. The game actually looks...good ;o
I was especially impressed by the addition of normal mapping on the brick wall, that's a huge difference! And the Greasle wing transparency fix, it looks terrible in the original, almost like they made a mistake in the programming and your version is what was intended.
Thanks again.

No wait - never mind. The Texture pack has applied and is working beautifully! I was just thrown because in a previous version you gave Alex a facial scar that is no longer applied - not seeing that scar made me think the pack wasn't working but it definitely is.

You, sir, are the man! Many thanks for all your hard work over the years with this pack and for continuing to help the community long after this game was released!

Interesting. Thanks so much for looking into this. I think I've almost got it sussed.

I've followed your instructions - installing the pack, adding the registry entry and then running in compat mode with admin - and the ibd_patcher.exe now runs and seems to do its job. However when I launch the game there is no sign of your splash screen (I assume that should still be there as with previous versions) and none of the textures are replaced. I ran the patcher again and selected ALL TEXTURES and hit the green "+" button but still no joy. IS there a step I've missed?

Regarding the error message when running the texture pack with the Steam version of the game:

I've had some help from a person who have had this problem, and together we found that the ibd_patcher.exe needs to be run in compatibiity and administrator mode for it to work (this was with Windows 7 and the Steam version of the game).

The steps he outlined for me (I don't have the opportunity to test this myself) are (his words):

"1) Running the installer until the error 76 appears
2) Moving the folders created in the installer's directory to the IW game directory under steam
3) Creating the "HKLM\Software\Ion Storm\Deus Ex - Invisible War" "ION_ROOT_PC" entry in the registry, with the value set to your IW directory under Steam
4) Running the ibd_patcher.exe utility, with compatibility set to WinXP SP2, and admin privileges - then selecting the appropriate options."

I hope this helps.

Hi Howard, and thanks for the heads up. I have thought the pack works with Steam, because I heard some forum "rumours" back in the day stating it does, but I'll look into it further.

I'll get back with a solution when and if I find one.

Cheers,

John P.

Hey there, good to see this is still about. Long time fan of this pack as I am one of those who bought DX2 on the day of release. Unfortunately your pack does not work with Steam at all.
The idb patcher seems to have a set path coded into it and as such will not run in the Steam pathway. This really is a huge shame as the game is so ugly without all your work there to help it.

Any suggestions as to how we can fix this at all?
